MLB followers slam ’embarrassing’ sponsored playoff helmets

It’s secure to say baseball followers aren’t too pleased with MLB’s new batting helmets that include advertisements. 

The league introduced a deal final month with Strauss, a German workwear attire firm, to place the corporate emblem on each side of each helmet in the course of the postseason in yet one more on-field uniform advert.

Social media was abuzz, to say the least, on Tuesday after followers bought their first take a look at the brand in the course of the first day of wild-card spherical play.

“Is there something MLB @MLB gained’t put promoting on?” Trent Mongero, a highschool baseball coach, wrote on X. “Simply cheapens the look of the MLB product, in my view. Now the batting helmets? Appears to be like just like the native little league with sponsors on the jerseys. Is it me, or does this irk anybody else?”

MLB has allowed jersey advertisements since 2023, inflicting frustration for a lot of baseball watchers. 

Frank Paul Santangelo Jr., son of former massive leaguer F.P. Santangelo, desires nothing to do with Strauss after seeing the commercials on Tuesday.

“I’m boycotting the Strauss firm out of precept,” he wrote. “I don’t even know what that firm is or what they do, however I’m by no means buying something as a result of they ruined helmets within the playoffs.”

They have been removed from alone. 

“I’ll say it once more: these silly ass commercials on these postseason helmets are ridiculous,” WFAN host Danielle McCartan wrote on X. “Rob Manfred continues to run MLB like a poverty firm.”

“Hey @MLB the advertisements on the helmets are embarrassing,” one other consumer mentioned on the platform. “Guess what, you don’t must squeeze each final greenback out of the sport. Have somewhat respect for it.”
